This policy covers the VisualMark browser extension, website and offers service. Features vary by build. The current public Chrome Store package disables Offers. Where Offers is enabled, users choose a category and deliberately open an offer. Demonstration offers are clearly labelled fictional promotions and cannot be purchased or redeemed. Live offers may use affiliate links after you click; VisualMark may earn a commission from a qualifying purchase.

With your permission, our public home, support, privacy and offers pages load the Google advertising tag to help measure our advertising. Google can receive the page URL, referring page, advertising click identifiers, browser/device information and your connection IP address, and can set or read advertising measurement cookies. Google processes this information under its own privacy policy. Personalised advertising is disabled in our tag configuration. This tag is separate from our private visitor statistics and is not included in the browser extension or private admin pages.

The Google tag does not load until you choose Allow measurement. Decline prevents it from loading. We respect Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control even if a previous choice allowed measurement. Use Advertising privacy in the footer to change your choice; withdrawing permission reloads the page to stop the tag. Your choice is stored in this browser for up to 180 days. You can remove existing Google cookies through your browser settings. After permission is granted, clicking our Chrome Web Store installation link can be reported to Google Ads as an outbound-click conversion. This records a store-link click, not a confirmed extension installation or purchase. Edge store clicks are not included in this conversion. Enhanced conversions that collect form-entered personal information are not enabled.

Website visitor statistics

On our public home, support, privacy and offers pages, we collect page-view totals, approximate country, browser family and referral hostname for private administration. A secret-keyed receipt derived from the connection IP and browser family changes each UTC day to estimate daily visitors. We do not store raw IP addresses, full browser identifiers, full referral URLs or analytics cookies in this report. Records are deleted after 90 days. Shared connections and VPNs affect accuracy. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control disable this collection. Hosting access logs are separate from these statistics.

Bookmarks and information saved on your device

VisualMark reads your browser bookmark titles, URLs and folder structure to display, search and organise your collection. In browser-bookmark mode, creating, editing, moving or deleting bookmarks changes the browser’s own bookmarks. Your browser’s own synchronisation remains controlled by its provider. Separately, Pro can sync selected named collections through your VisualMark account, or display an account collection without importing it into the local browser.

VisualMark stores your settings, folder icons, notes, tags, reading status, reminder dates, bookmark visit counts and last-visited information, and cached webpage information and screenshot previews in your browser profile’s extension storage. Preview images may also be retained in browser cache storage. Optional account collection sync transfers the selected collection and its supported annotations to VisualMark’s server.

Saved URLs, notes, page text and screenshots can contain personal information, such as names, email addresses or account details. Screenshots can include information visible on logged-in pages. VisualMark does not require an extension account, and does not ask you to enter passwords, payment details or health information to use the bookmark manager. Avoid capturing or exporting pages containing sensitive information.

Website access and screenshot capture

When you save a page, refresh a preview, check a link or use a destination preview, VisualMark may read the page’s title, URL, description, images and visible content, and request that website and its resources. Websites and their hosting providers receive ordinary network requests, including your connection’s IP address. Pages opened in your browser may use your existing website session and cookies under the browser’s normal rules. VisualMark does not send your cached screenshots or bookmark annotations to the offers service.

VisualMark captures previews using the active tab and website access you grant. Refreshing a preview may open the bookmarked page in the foreground and briefly change the active tab. Longer pages may be captured in segments where the page allows it. Browser, website and login restrictions can prevent a capture. You can review and change website access in your browser’s extension details; limiting access affects features that need to read or capture those pages.

Customer accounts and optional Pro cloud services

When customer registration is enabled, we store your name, email address, a secure password hash, email verification status, device sessions and Pro subscription status. Verification and password recovery emails are delivered through our Microsoft 365 mail service. Account link and device secrets are stored as hashes. The account website uses an HttpOnly session cookie; the extension stores a device credential locally. You can sign out connected devices, and resetting your password revokes existing sessions.

If you choose to buy Pro, Creem receives your name, email, selected plan and the payment information you enter in its checkout. Creem manages payment processing and billing records under its own privacy policy. We retain the customer/subscription identifiers and status needed to provide Pro; we do not receive your card details or give Creem your bookmarks, page contents or account password.

Pro cloud sync and captures are optional. If enabled, selected bookmark collections and their annotations are transferred to your VisualMark account. Server and trusted capture helpers may retrieve public webpages and temporarily hold screenshots, extracted page text and MHTML archives for delivery to your browser. Registered customer accounts default to a three-day cache for remotely captured images, archives and extracted text, so another signed-in device can retrieve them without repeating the capture. Downloading does not delete a retained bundle. Older pilot accounts can remain delivery-only. Administrators can set account-specific image and archive/text retention from one to 365 days; archive retention can also be set to delivery-only. Retention is measured from capture, and storage limits may prevent a file being retained. Semantic search indexes are built locally from downloaded text. Capture attempt and allowance records are associated with your account to control cost and abuse across devices. Account and billing records remain until removal or applicable record-keeping requirements allow deletion. Contact support for service-held data requests.

Search history, reminders and your actions

Search terms are sent to the search engine you choose. Supported result pages may be read or fetched to display result layouts and destination previews. VisualMark keeps a bounded local search trail of supported searches and deliberately followed result links, including available titles, URLs and timestamps; it is not a copy of your entire browser history. The search trail can be cleared from the Search interface. Search engines and destination websites apply their own privacy policies.

Reading-reminder notifications are based on reminders you set for bookmarks; they identify the saved page and let you open it. They are not used to send offer advertisements. Clipboard, sharing, printing and download/export features run when you choose their commands. Email sharing opens your email application with a draft; you choose the recipient and whether to send it.

Exports, retention and removal

Standard bookmark exports contain bookmark links and folders. Rich backups and portable HTML exports can also include notes, tags, reading information and cached preview images, depending on your choices. Exported files, copied images, printouts and shared links are outside extension storage: anyone you give them to may see their contents. VisualMark does not automatically upload these exports to its server.

Local information and previews remain available until removed, cleared or evicted by browser storage management, or until the extension/profile is removed. Use bookmark and annotation controls to edit or remove saved information and the Search controls to clear the search trail. Uninstalling removes the extension’s local storage; ordinary browser bookmarks remain unless you delete them separately. Preview cache cleanup is managed by the browser. Copies in exports, downloads, backups and browser-synchronised bookmarks must be removed separately. Back up information you want to keep before uninstalling.

Country-level usage and offers

The offers service receives your selected offer category, placement, language and extension version. It does not receive your bookmark titles, folders, notes, tags, URLs or browsing history.

To avoid counting refreshes as new viewers, the extension and website each store a random identifier that changes every UTC day. Offer requests include that identifier; we store a hashed, day-specific key with views and clicks to count each browser once per offer per day. We do not use IP addresses for this deduplication or forward this identifier to merchants. These counts represent browsers, not identifiable people. Clearing browser storage or using another profile may count as another browser.

Like other websites, our server receives the IP address used to connect. We match it to an approximate country using a country database on our Linux server. We do not send visitor IP addresses to an external geolocation service, and our country analytics do not store raw IP addresses. VPNs and proxies can affect the detected country. If the country is unknown, we show only worldwide offers.

When you open VisualMark, the extension can send one daily activity signal, even if you do not open offers. It contains the extension version and a random receipt that changes each UTC day. It helps us understand demand by country without a permanent installation identifier. You can turn this off under Settings → Share country-level usage. This setting controls the daily signal; using offers still creates offer request and interaction records.

We count offer requests by country and category, including requests with no live offers. When an offer becomes visible, we record an impression. When you follow a live offer link, we record a click and redirect you through the merchant’s affiliate provider. Demo links open a demonstration page instead. VisualMark does not replace website links or existing affiliate codes to generate offer commissions. VisualMark may earn a commission if you make a qualifying purchase.

Country totals and raw impression/click records are retained for up to 90 days, with expired data removed by scheduled cleanup. Daily retry receipts expire after two days. Short-lived IP hashes support rate limiting. We do not create persistent user profiles from these records. Hosting and reverse-proxy infrastructure may maintain separate access logs under its configured retention.

Offer artwork can load from the image address supplied with an offer. The image host receives the ordinary request, including your connection’s IP address. Demonstration artwork is hosted by VisualMark; other offers may use merchant or provider image hosts.

Our country database includes GeoLite2 data created by MaxMind. Affiliate providers and merchants apply their own privacy policies after you choose to visit them. Our hosting infrastructure processes requests to operate the website and service.

Limited use and security

VisualMark’s use of information received through browser permissions complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Browser-accessed bookmark, search and webpage data is used for the described user-facing features, not sold or used to build personalised advertising profiles. Bookmark contents and browsing history are not used for offer targeting. Transfers are limited to providing these features, user-directed sharing, security or legal requirements, or a permitted business transfer under the policy.

VisualMark’s service connections use HTTPS. Local storage and exported files are not separately encrypted by VisualMark, so protect your device, browser profile and backups. Website captures may contact HTTP sites if you explicitly use them. No security system can guarantee protection against every risk.

Contact and policy changes

For privacy questions or requests concerning service-held data, email support@visualmark.app. Do not send passwords or private bookmark exports. Because activity records do not use a permanent installation identity, we may be unable to associate anonymous country totals with a particular person. Changes to this policy will be published here with an updated date.
